Storyboarding your Science

OCT 9th | 3-5 pm CET

A storyboard is a visual roadmap of a story, used by filmmakers to plan the sequence of scenes, ensure continuity, and assess the effectiveness of storytelling. A direct comparison of this in the scientific world would be outlining a paper or a presentation.

A typical science presentation begins with a question, followed by a series of datasets that attempt to answer that question. However, many of us struggle to see the connectivity and impact of our science stories. As researchers, we are trained to present our data by focusing on ‘what’ it depicts, often neglecting ‘how’ it connects to the bigger picture or the audience's understanding.

In this workshop, we aim to bridge that gap by sharing techniques that artists employ to create engaging narratives.

What will you learn?

  • Building a cohesive narrative

  • Identifying the missing links that might disconnect your audience

  • Making your science stories accessible and impactful

Who is the workshop for?

Scientists at any stage in their careers can participate in this workshop. It is mainly for researchers who have a story and are about to present it at a conference or write a manuscript.

Medium and Language of the Workshop: This workshop will be on Zoom and in English.

Register until 30th September. The confirmation will be sent immediately with the meeting link.

This workshop is organized by the Experimentalist and is free. If you would like to organize this workshop on another date for your research group or department, email us to discuss further.
